Workshops: Education and Community
All of Analogue’s practitioners feel that they have benefited by workshopping with a wide range of theatre companies. We have all been creatively inspired through exploring numerous different approaches to creating new work. Analogue is very keen to offer the same opportunity to others.
Devised theatre is an increasingly popular and important strand of contemporary theatre. The challenges and possibilities involved in the collaboration, creation and production of new work from scratch are vast and hugely rewarding. The Analogue Workshop Through an exposure to many different theatre-making processes we, as a company, have developed our own individual style and working methods. The workshop is an exploration into the company’s collaborative development of work. The Focus The creation of multi-disciplinary theatre with emphasis placed upon the formation of live cinematic effects on stage and the integration of multi-media. The main objective is to find exciting, highly visual ways of story-telling. Different mediums are explored and subsequently combined, these include: Projection (live and pre-recorded), Video, Music, Object manipulation, Text. Analogue will provide all necessary equipment. As a company we are often informed and inspired by relevant and topical stories. Each workshop uses a recent news report or article as a stimulus, thus ensuring every session is unique and fresh. Who are the workshops for? The workshop would benefit anyone interested in theatre making, however they are specifically aimed at two main groups. A/AS level school groups With most syllabuses students are required to create an assessed piece of devised theatre. They are often required to do this with very limited class time available for any introduction to devising methodologies. The workshop is a helpful foundation in exploring initial stimuli, structuring of ideas and the potential integration of other mediums. Undergraduate students / theatre groups Students of theatre or drama societies who may have some previous experience of devising and wish to sample the individual methods of Analogue.
